This one’s slightly off the beaten track, in more ways than one!! A good friend of mine, Stuart Sutton, recently had an unexpected adventure in the King’s Canyon National Park, which is in the Sierra Nevada mountain range, California, USA. What started out as a 3hr hike up the mountain with a short 45min snowboard down turned into a nightmare scenario… a real-life ‘Man vs Wild‘ story!!!

I should probably mention this podcast isn’t about music as much as it is the telling of Stuart’s amazing survival story, I think it’s a great listen - hope you do too! (back to the music in the next one, I promise!)

Well that took a while to upload! - Anyway, I’m proud to say that an all-new VIDEO PODCAST is now up!!!! This time I’m joined by Mr. Chris Clark of Ace Marine Images who give us the low down on his fantastic new Koh Tao Calendar, sunken submarines and general chit-chat… The video podcast features images from the calendar, the girls and some background info on how it all came about. As well as some exclusive deep-sea shots of the submarines and shipwrecks Chris has been a part of discovering and filming…. Along with a soundtrack provided by yours truly!!! There’s also a new AAC audio-only podcast available through iTunes (subscribe and you’ll see the link) - this has all the calendar shots and is slightly lower in file size.. BUT I highly recommend the full audio-visual splender that is the video version!

Come down to Q Bar Bangkok this Saturday (6th September 2008) for the launch party (more info on our facebook page) - and I’ll be joined by DJ Absolud spinnin’ some dope House beats, while I’ll be playing everything from Hip-Hop to Rock ‘n Roll!!

My small tribute to the great man; Isaac Hayes, who passed away Sunday 10th August at his home in Memphis Tennessee aged 65 years old. In 1971 he became the first African American to win an non-acting Oscar for the awesome music he added to the classic blaxploitation flick; Shaft. Not only Isaac in this one though.. other great new tunes from Mr Scruff, J-Live, Nelly Furtado, Hokumbox, Pendulum and me; DJ Octo!!! Ok, so I need some practice with my interview skills and, of course, the technical aspects of recording more than one voice at a time.. BUT I did manage to pin down one of the finest turntablists to ever win the World DMC finals, in fact the ONLY Asian DJ to ever win AND the only DJ to ever get 10/10 from every judge; DJ Kentaro. Our chat was the day after Kentaro’s debut gig in Bangkok, and what a show it was.. a true master showman and technical wizard.
